Q: What file types can I upload?

There are no restrictions on what type of file you can upload, our only limit is by file size, which is currently 5GB for free users, 10GB for Pro users and 100GB for business users. Feel free to upload any file you like, no matter the type. We don't modify uploads in any way, so you can rest assured that your files will remain in tact and downloaded as you intended.

Where will my files be hosted?

Uploadfiles deploys multiple dedicated data centers around the world, including Europe, Asia & America.

We also utilise Cloudflare for our content delivery network to make use of their edge servers:

"A CDN edge server is a computer that exists at the logical extreme or “edge” of a network. An edge server often serves as the connection between separate networks. A primary purpose of a CDN edge server is to store content as close as possible to a requesting client machine, thereby reducing latency and improving page load times."

Paid users also benefit from automatic data backups using Amazon S3, to ensure absolute data loss protection, as well as file versioning.

To summarise, your files will be stored securely on our own hardware in the closest data center to the upload origin, copies of your files may also be stored temporarily on CDN locations around the world for caching purposes. Paid users will also have their file stored securely on Amazon S3.

Question 3

How to enable direct downloads

|| Please note, this feature is only available on our Business plan, and has a limit of 1,000 daily direct downloads by default. More can be purchased via your dashboard.

As a business user, you can enable direct downloads for your files.

This allows your recipients to click the file link you send them, and automatically begin downloading the file, without visiting uploadfiles.io at all.

To enable direct downloads, login to your account, then click on the expand arrow next to "settings" in the left hand sidebar, then click "branding" and enable the "Direct Downloads" switch.

Finally, scroll down to the bottom and click "Save settings".

Question 4

How do I upload a file?

Go to https://uploadfiles.io and drag files into the upload box, or click the box to select a file to upload.

Once your file upload has completed, you will be given a unique, shortened URL, which you can share with friends to download your file. You can copy the URL with one click, by tapping the copy icon next to the URL box:

By default, uploads are stored for 30 days for free users, you can set a custom expiry by choosing one of the time periods below the upload.

You can also share your upload directly to your preferred social media channels by using one of the share buttons on the page.

Question 6

One time download links

When sending sensitive data, it's often wise to ensure the file isn't accessed by anybody else, or that it remains online for longer than necessary.

The best way to achieve this, is with "one time download links". These links will automatically expire after the file has been downloaded once.

The file will no longer be accessible, and will be moved to your "trash", where it will be permanently deleted after 7 days, or immediately if you clear your trash.

To create a one time download link, upload your file, then from your dashboard, hover over the file action button, and click "one time download", then simply enable the switch in the modal.

Once enabled, click "save & close" and share the file URL. As soon as it's downloaded, it will expire, and be moved to your "Trash" folder.
